The Crock-PotŪ Programmable Countdown Slow Cooker gives you the flexibility to set the unit's cook time in 30 minute increments for up to 20 hours. Once the cook time is set, the unit's digital timer will count down in 1 minute increments, so you always know how much cook time is left on your meal. Summary: Cooks wells, but outside gets too hot 2010-03-12
Comment: I've had this cooker for about 6 months. I bought it mainly because of the timer feature, which I still love, and because I got a good price for it. I'm happy with how it cooks, but it seems dangerous because the outside gets so incredibly hot. I'm afraid to have anything near it and I worry that my toddler will get on the counter, touch it, and get burned. I'll be searching for a new crockpot because of that.

Summary: not buying crock-pot brand again 2010-01-31
Comment: This crockpot smelled like paint the first time I used it. I wish I had taken it back then. The handle on the lid broke around the one year mark. I called Rival, but they were of no help--the lids were out of stock and they offered no other solutions. I screwed in a knob from an older pot and it worked better than the original one. Then one of the handles on the side cracked. It still worked, but I have to use caution and warn my family when picking it up. This crockpot cooks extremely hot. Most of the time I cook on low, but sometimes warm is what other crockpots would consider low. Somehow a crack occurred around the bottom corner. A crusty line was on the outside of the crock when I removed it for serving. After one and a half years, I'm shopping for a different brand crockpot. My advice--don't buy it!

Comment: The outside gets super hot...scalding hot, while the inside is still cool (within 30 minutes of turning it on)....I'm taking it back to the store. This is unsafe to have around kids. Have no idea whether it cooks well--but if it is hotter outside than inside, something doesn't seem right.
