Comment: I purchased the "Cuisinart" PSC-650 Slow Cooker because I have generally have always had good luck with Quisinart and I like their products.
I have to say that this is one exception.
1. The cooker "seems" to be well made. I actually like the way it looks despite its large size.
2. After carefully reading the instructions and setting the delay for @ 8hrs to test the timer function, the unit immediately got hot despite it being set on low. While the timer was still counting down, the crock pot continued to get hotter and hotter.
While I won't write a long review I will add this to the folks that were not pleased with the product. Perhaps I got a product from a bad production run as well.. I'm simply seeing too many poor reviews on this slow cooker and I fully agree with all of you.. I would not recommend this product!
Come on Cuisineart, this isn't the 1950's. Where's the quality control for your product?
I plan on sending the item back for a refund. Bottom line is: The delay timer function simply does not work as stated.
Comment: I like the look and size and like to make different nice meals in it and they are delicious. The part that I don't like about it is that the book reccomends that the meals should be cooked on low, and when I do that the food is not cooked to the right tenderness, therefore the food needs to cook longer.

Summary: Don't Be Fooled By Bad Reviews 2010-04-06
Comment: Honestly, I really don't get what all the awful reviews are about. What ARE people expecting? I've had this slow cooker about three weeks now, and have used it several times for a variety of dishes. It's fine . . . it cooks evenly, it's easy to use (the timer is definitely a winner), and in spite of being rather large, it's quite easy to handle. In terms of the cooking temperature (I mainly use LOW, as you should with a S L O W cooker), it seems quite consistent with my previous model, a Hamilton Beach. At this point, I would not hesitate to purchase again!

Summary: Steam Escapes 2010-04-03
Comment: After using the unit a few times steam started to escape thus drying out the food. I called Cuisinart and they were unhelpful saying that steam is suppose to escape -- they clearly never cook with a slow cooker. I would not purchase again.

Summary: Don't buy this! 2010-04-02
Comment: I have had the same problem as other reviewers - this slow cooker does not cook food! I had the old version of this Cuisinart slow cooker and had to replace it with this one when one of the knobs broke (the old version was not "programmable"). I have tried to make several of the recipes I used to make in my old slow cooker and none of them has been cooked in the time the recipe specifies. I have had to add HOURS to the cooking time and cook everything on high to get things to finally cook. When I checked the temperature, the "high" setting is barely over 165 which is the bottom of the range for the "simmer" setting (the lowest of the three settings). I will be sending this back and replacing it with a non-Cuisinart slow cooker.
