This is the kind of cookware you buy once, and use forever. I purchased my Demeyere cookware one piece at a time (to make it affordable) and have never regretted my (large but worthwhile) investment. I will pass this cookware on to my grandchildren, as it won't break or wear out.
During my first marriage, I purchased a set of cookware that had Teflon coating that became scratched and even flaked off in my food if I used anything buy nylon utensils on it. The second set was beautiful: clear bronze pyrex-type glass, but food didn't heat evenly and the skillets were a bear to clean. Copper cookware was gorgeous, but cheaper brands wear thin, and it has to be polished and maintained.
I wanted something that was a pleasure to use (as I didn't really *like* to cook), as well as something that was going to help me become a better cook. I wanted good conductive materials that were well constructed. And Demeyere makes just that kind of cookware.
