Double Dish nonstick bowls Removable stainproof oval stoneware crockery Portable design with easy-grip handles Keep Warm setting Tempered-glass lid Wraparound, even heat 50 easy-prep recipes 330 watts 120V/AC only

Amazon.com Review

Furnished with a large, stoneware crock and two nonstick bowls, this appliance expands the range of cooking options previously available with conventional slow-cookers. The oval, 6-quart crock provides 5 quarts of effective cooking capacity, ample for a large chicken, roast beef, or ham--or chili for the soccer team. Each nonstick bowl provides 7 cups of cooking capacity for side dishes, appetizers, or party dips. The bowls fit inside the cooker with or without the crock. Without the crock, cooking is slow. But by placing a quart of water in the crock and inserting the bowls into the crock, cooking speeds up.

High and low settings affect how long it takes for the cooker to heat food to 200 degrees F. A warming setting holds cooked food at a serving temperature. Because the crock and bowls lift out of the cooker, they can be used for serving. The gleaming white crock is particularly attractive. For convenience, crock, bowls, and glass lid are dishwasher-safe. The 330-watt cooker measures 17 inches wide, 10 inches high, and 12 inches front-to-back. Recipes are included in the instruction booklet--50 slow-cooking options from pot roast to chocolate-chip bread pudding. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 dishes at the same time, December 19, 2001

This is a great idea. I still use a crockpot cookbook my mother gave me 15 years ago. With my old rival crockpot, in order to get the meat just right, the vegetables and potatoes would overcook. With the Hamilton Beach, the meat turns out great and I put the vegetables in the second dish, later in the cooking cycle. Both come out the way the should. Don't settle for a one purpose unit when you can get the Hamilton Beach.

4.0 out of 5 stars Made me a decent cook, January 4, 2003

I've never used a slow-cooker before, but it made me an expert after the first time. I cooked a delicious pot-roast one afternoon and it cleaned up very nicely, too. The removeable crock is very convenient and cooled down relatively quickly after turning it off and removing the food. No scrubbing was necessary and that was what I was most impressed with. Nice clean look and I'm sure I'll make use of the two smaller "dip" trays that were included. Package included a few recipes which is great for a beginner like me!

2.0 out of 5 stars if you'd like a hot water sprinkler..., November 6, 2001

this crock pot has 3 settings: warm, scalding and blast furnace. warm cooks nothing, scalding evaporates liquids and drys food in less than 2 hrs, and blast furnace should be used in place of kiln. The worst feature / drawback of this not-so-fine unit is the hot water spitting that occurs after 2 or so hours that leaves your countertops wet and messy. I returned this and bought a Rival. Far better - no comparison.
