Hamilton Beach 33956 Stay-or-Go 5-Quart Slow Cooker, White

Comment: I bought this slow cooker right before Christmas. It worked perfectly the first time I made Party Potatoes in it using the manual setting. The second time I used it to warm a spiral ham and it got done waaaay before it was supposed to using the probe. By the time I served it, the ham was very dry. The third time I used it for a roast, the meat was done early but was very tasty and moist. I removed the roast, wrapped it in foil and proceeded to add thickening to make gravy. While I was stirring the meat juices and waiting for the gravy to thicken, I heard a snap. Sure enough, the crock just cracked up the side. If I had paid $20 for a Slow Cooker, I could maybe understand it, but I paid over $50 for this. To use it only three times before it breaks is very upsetting. I will probably never buy a Hamilton-Beach appliance again.

Comment: If I didn't know any better I'd think someone was home cooking for me. I love this slow cooker. The programmable feature is so easy to use and when cooking time is up it switches over to "warm". One of my favorite features, in addition to the programmable timer, is the "travel" lid. The gasket helps seal the lid to the pot, and there are clamps that pull it down tight. I transported a very full pot of French Onion soup to a party, and I could see it sloshing all over inside during the drive, but not a drop left the crock.

Comment: This is my first new crockpot in 20 years and I was very sad to say goodbye to my old one...until I used this for the first time. I made Paula Deens crock pot mac and cheese ( which is delish) and took it to my MIL's for new years. It cooked very nicely on low and was a dream to take in the car. Clean up was nice and easy too. The crock is smooth and nothing sticks.

Comment: Im not really a slow cooker pro, so I was reading through reviews to try to decide which to get and finally ended up with this one and I have to say that I love it. My sister and I decided we wanted to try making some things in the slow cooker to save time cooking and try out new recipes. I think this does a great job, the controls are easy to use and the probe option to check the temperature of meat youre coking is fantastic. It makes everything so easy and I really dont think you can mess it up using this slow cooker. I know there are a lot of reviews from people that talk about some cookers cooking to fast or hot even on low options, but I havent had an issue with that yet. Happy cooking!

Comment: After seeing the movie "Julie and Julia" (ordered DVD from Amazon), we decided to make Julia Child's recipe for beef bourgougnon. Since this slow cooker had recently been delivered, we cooked the stew in the slow cooker instead of the oven. The results were absolutely outstanding. I would highly recommend this product and was very happy to be able to buy it in the color white, my favorite color for kitchen appliances. We recently purchased another Hamilton Beach small appliance and are very impressed with the quality.
