Summary: Great slow cooker 2010-03-17
Comment: I'm so glad I chose this slow cooker. It's a perfect size and very easy to operate. I love the locking lid, especially when you take your best dish to a pot luck. Don't have to worry about it spilling in the car. It is a well-made product.

Summary: Stylish in looks and easy to use! 2010-03-11
Comment: It was finally time to update my old "Southwest" design crock pot, even though it cooked the food ok. I wanted the new features and looks, so I chose the Hamilton Beach Set n Forget slow cooker after checking out all the others online and in the stores. This one definitely does a nice job of cooking the food the way a slow cooker should and looks good when on the counter at home or taking to a pot luck. The locking handles make it convenient to carry and the seal is absolutely tight. Programming is a cinch! I love that that it will keep everything warm after the programmed cooking time ends. The oval shape gives much more room for food than my old round style. Very useful! I was excited to try the "cook by temperature" probe but so far I have just used it with chicken breasts to test it. They were not overcooked so I would say the probe was successful. I could have added another star if I had tested the probe using a large roast and it cooked it properly. I will try it soon. Shipping on the crock pot was free and it arrived quickly. The Amazon price was lower than any store in my area. Very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it.

Summary: I love my new crockpot 2010-03-11
Comment: This slow cooker is huge. I've already made bbq pork and bbq ribs. It handled the 7 lb pork shoulder nicely with room to spare. I'd gladly buy it again but one caveat to people with a small kitchen-this slow cooker takes up space. I'm lucky enough to have a large kitchen but if you lived in an apartment or have a small kitchen with minimal storage you might want to think twice. The nice thing about the slow cooker is that you can adjust the heat and program it. The lid fits tightly on the pot so I didn't have to worry about adding water to either pork dish. I can hardly wait to try other dishes like soups or pot roast.

Summary: A Slow Cooker to keep! 2010-03-08
Comment: I have alway's disliked Slow Cooker's, Crock-pots, whatever you want to call them. In the last 22 years I have bought and given away more than I can count. This model was my last shot, as in the interim, I have become very fond of a pressure cooker in place of the crock-pot. In the pressure cooker, I can have pot roast dinner on the table in one hour, start to finish and it's perfect. When I read the info about this unit, I thought well, I'll try one more, and if this one doesn't cut it I'm done. I am happy to report that this is a wonderful model and I am so happy with it for a number of reasons. The versatily in programming time is fantastic, cook chicken breasts for 8 hours on low and you will have saw dust, so nice to have other options and the warm feature. The unit comes up to temp quickly and programming is easy. I haven't used the probe feature yet, but plan to soon. Thank you Hamilton Beach for a lovely small appliance! BTW if you're looking for a good Slow Cooker Cookbook, Fix it and forget it, the big book is the best I have found and I've looked at over 30 of them.
