This review is from: Prime Pacific Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Stock Pot with Lid, 35-Quart (Kitchen) I bought this pot for brewing beer. The pot is very sturdy and holds up well when lifting 5 gallons by the handles. The bottom is clad and appears pretty thick. The only complaint I have about is that it is not 18/10 stainless steel as they advertise. I suspect it's 18/0. The 10 or 0 denominator is supposed to be the nickel content. If it were truly 18/10, I should not be able to stick a magnet on it. See photo. I don't think it really matters for brewing. I read that true 18/10 steel is better at resisting stains. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars. It's a good value. I also looked at the Bayou Classic 40 qt stock pot. Go to youtube and search for keywords 'Bayou Classic" & 'mallet' to find a guy easily denting one of those with a rubber mallet. Although I won't try it, I'm confident a similar blow would not dent this one a bit. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Dont know if this was a fluke due to the TWO GREAT reveiws, but definately would keep your eyes open for a better pot for the price. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Prime Pacific Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Stock Pot with Lid, 35-Quart (Kitchen) I've churned about a dozen batches of beer through this kettle, and it's moved, twice. It's still shiny on the inside, no dents, no stains, and excellent on preventing scorching of the beer. I've not seen any trouble with the handles, they're as firmly attached as the day I got it. I'm considering getting a second one to hack up to put in a valve and thermometer. Overall, I'd say this is one of the best kettles for the money, and highly recommend it. Excellent pick on all accounts. |
