I love the keep warm feature and even reheat food in it on this setting (yes, it says not to but I know what it can do!). I have tried other brands including the ''famous'' Crock Pot brand thinking that if I paid more, I'd get more. NOT so!! My mother adopted my old Rival slow cooker that was given to me at 23, I am now nearly 47 and it is still going strong. I have been using slow cookers for what feels like 100 years and have found no better than this. I have also used the crock in the oven with great success though not often as the point of a slow cooker is to use it as a slow cooker and save my electric bill from the evil oven. ;=). It works very well and I'm always satisfied with the finished dishes, and best of all it's a beauty on the countertop when I'm cooking. One drawback, the lid is made from very cheap material and the handle cracked and broke. I'm now in the market for a replacement lid. I'd highly recommend this product. 3 of 5 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Rival SCVE500-A2 5-Quart Slow Cooking Crock Pot Cooker, Decorative Stoneware First of all we bought this crockpot for its looks ... not always a good thing to do. I've had it for about 3 years and since we don't usually have need to use it a great deal I would say it's probably been used about a dozen or so times since we've owned it. Problems: the low setting cooks way too high but that wasn't much of a problem since I'm usually home when I use it; the warm setting does basically nothing so I pretty much ignored that feature right off the bat. Now for the biggie: it's our fault that we didn't notice it when we purchased the crockpot but there must have been a hairline crack on the outside that developed into a major crack. We can see where it probably had started on the bottom of the crock. I have learned since reading other reviews on this style of crock that this is a major flaw in the manufacturing as others have had the same problem.
Now for the irritating part: try calling this crazy company to see if a replacement crock can be...Read more |
