Summary: just the perfect slow cooker 2010-09-03
Comment: My old slow cooker wore out after 20 years. I just had to have the same one replace it. It's not only the same shape and size, they have added new and improved features. You can put this cooker in the oven if you like, fry on top range, use the base for grilled sandwiches, pancakes etc. As well as use as slow cooker!

Summary: Great Slow Cooker 2010-08-29
Comment: I bought this as a replacement for a crock pot, and am I glad I did. This slow cooker is great, and can go from cooktop to base without any problems. I just made a Daube today with it and the results are fantastic - beautiful rich sauce and tender, moist meat. The heat control is infinitely adjustable, unlike most crock pots, and the oblong shaped cooker can be used to brown meats on a cooktop (which I did), keeping the flavors of the browning and deglazing in the pan. I've made sensational short ribs with this too. Great value.

Summary: doesn't work 2010-08-25
Comment: I've had West Bend slow cookers before that worked great for years. This one didn't even boil water let alone cook a roast. Unfortunately, I waited too long (3 months) to try it before realizing it didn't work so now I'm out $50 unless I pay more to ship it somewhere for repair, and then probably get a refurbished model back. From now on I'll stick with getting books and CD's from Amazon. Electrical, mechanically, and electronics will come from a store where I can return them when they don't work. Like some other reviewers have noted, West Bend's quality has deteriorated to the point where they can't be depended on at all.

Summary: Exactly what I was looking for 2010-08-23
Comment: This was for my mother, who is 81. She's been looking for a lightweight, multipurpose slow cooker for a couple years now. The one she's loved for 10 years finally retired. She loves everything about this and raves about how easy to use and clean it is. Also, it performs beautifully. If my Nesco ever breaks, I'm pretty sure I'll replace mine with a West Bend, just like hers.

Summary: Love this Slow Cooker 2010-08-14
Comment: I had one of these for about 20 years and the interior had become scratched up and rusted. I threw it out and immediately missed it, thus my search for a new one. After trying several of the other slow cookers I returned to the West Bend.
I love the 'faster' cooking times versus the 'slow cookers' and the portability of this product. One thing that is really nice is the heating temperature choices. Whereas most slow cookers have 2-3 settings this one is a dial type and you can get that in between cooking time.
The new one does seem a bit lighter and thinner than my original cooker but I'm still 5 stars pleased!
